We have over 20 years of education law representing school districts in several counties throughout New Jersey. Our founding partner, Isabel Machado, Esq. has been practicing education law for over 15 years, as general counsel, special education counsel, and during labor negotiations. In addition to regularly presenting at education law conferences and symposiums, Ms. Machado is the author of two special education books: IDEA & Joint custody, Your District’s Obligations to Each Parent and Avoiding Legal Pitfalls of Developing New In-District Programs. Jessika Kleen, Esq., is a Partner with the firm and has the unique experience of working in the Special Education Law Clinic while attending Rutgers Law School, and has been with the Machado Law Group since its inception. Ms. Kleen lectures extensively on special education and student related matters throughout the state of New Jersey, provides professional development workshops to all of the firm’s clients, and co-authored Avoiding Legal Pitfalls of Developing New In-District Programs with Ms. Machado.

Christine Bernacki Smith, Esq. is an attorney with over fifteen years of experience defending individual and public entities in litigation matters before the Superior Court of New Jersey and Administrative Agencies. Janelle N. Winters, Esq. focuses on student related matters, employment litigation, and negotiations. Kyle Ulscht, Esq. focuses on a wide array of matters involving special education disputes, the bidding of public contracts, and labor negotiations. Furthermore, our attorneys are supported by experienced administrative assistants, paralegals, and an office manager, who collectively recognize the importance of our practice and more importantly, know our clients.
